About Sentinel-2 Mission

Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission is ensured by the simultaneous operation of two identical satellites in orbit. Each satellite carries a wide swath high-resolution multispectral imager. The mission provides operational products to help improve agricultural practices and food security, map changes in land cover and monitor the world’s soils and forests. Sentinel-2 observations are also used to monitor quality of inland and coastal waters, and to detect large anthropogenic sources of greenhouse gases. Images over wildfires and burnt areas, floods, volcanic eruptions and landslides contribute to disaster mapping and help humanitarian relief efforts.
